Coyne League: Marine Park 1 - 5 Ridgeway
The league season ended with a fighting display against a good Ridgeway side who were just too good for our boys on the day. The game started brightly for Marine who even took the lead through Mahi Bakth. Ridgeway increased the pressure upon our goal and scored twice before half time and three times in the second half despite a string of outstanding saves from our goalkeepers Moudud Ahmed and Matthew Salter.

Coyne League: St Mary's 7 - 1 Marine Park
A strong St Mary's team ended Marine's recent run of good results but not before our team pushed them all the way. It took 15 minutes for St Mary's to break down our three man defence but two more goals followed in the space of minutes. However, a great example of determination from skipper Hamidur Choudhury pulled a goal back for us before the half time whistle. Marine, despite the scoreline played well in parts, but the odd piece of good finishing together with some tired defending saw the score grow. But the boys must not be downhearted, the effort and skill they displayed was first class.

Coyne League: St James 3 - 5 Marine Park
The football team returned from their trip to Hebburn with a win and three points thanks to a second half revival against a spirited St James' team. After another slow start in an away match resulted in some poor defending that put the team one down. Gradually Marine started to create chances by spreading the play from flank to flank and Callum Allan superbly rounded the goal keeper to level the score. With Marine on top another piece of poor defending gave St James' a second goal before half time. The game changed completely in the space of two second half minutes when Callum Allan found space on the left wing to run at the defence and cross for substitute striker Nathan Williams to score twice. Callum then added a fourth but kept the goal of the night for his hat trick effort and the team's fifth with a sweetly struck shot from distance that found the top corner of the goal. St James' kept going and scored a late goal but Marine ran out worthy winners.

Coyne League: Marine Park 4 - 3 Hedworthfield
A cold evening was warmed up by a thrilling game of football at Marine Park. Seven goals were shared between the sides with Marine just edging the final goal. Marine opened the scoring with a well struck shot from Hamidur but were quickly pegged back to one all by the visitors. Nathan Williams struck his first ever school goal but before the celebrations had died down it was 2 - 2. Our opponents were very dangerous and had many chances to score but were kept out by good goalkeeping from Moudud and the bravery of the young defenders in front. Hamidur, though headed in to make it 3 - 2 but incredibly for the third time Hedworthfield equalised with a well struck volley. However, Marine were not to be denied and Nathan Williams was on hand to strike a winner from close range to win the game 4 - 3. Phew!

Coyne League: St Bede's 1 - 1 Marine Park
The football team produced a good performance on a cold night in Jarrow. Despite a slow start Jaminur Choudhury shot from out wide to open the scoring and give Marine a halftime lead. A much better performance in the second half with excellent performances from Evan Ray , Jonny Smith and Callum Allen saw Marine control much of the game. However, they could do nothing about St Bede's equaliser, a well struck shot from distance. Callum hit the bar and opportunities to score were created but missed, meaning an enjoyable game finished all square.
Feb 08Tournament @ the Academy of Light
The football squad took part in a competition ran by Sunderland AFC at their Academy of Light training ground. The team performed very well, finishing as runners up in their group before losing in the quarter finals. Highlights of the day included a hat trick for Mahi in a six nil victory.
League Update
It's the winter break for school football at present. The team has had some mixed results whilst trying to defend the Coyne League title that we have won for the past two years. Excellent wins over Hedworthfield, St James and St Bede's were followed by heavy defeats to Ridgeway and St Mary's RC.
The players who have represented the school have been an absolute credit to the school and their families and play the game in the correct spirit - wanting to win, happy faces and gracious in both defeat and victory.
