Mini Olympics - June 30th
Coming soon!
Football 09
We have been fortunate to have had some fantastic coaching from Mr Salmon of Sunderland AFC & Mortimer during this year to develop the ball skills of all the children in key stage 2. Also, Mr Salmon has been encouraging some of our budding superstars to attend some after school coaching at Mortimer.
Ice Hockey 09
Yes, at Marine Park we have had some curriculum time given over to ice hockey ... in summer ... without an ice rink! Well nearly. Ali from the Newcastle Vipers has been coming along to Marine Park to give some ball hockey tips - without the ice - as well as leading a special assembly all about healthy lifestyles. The children have had such a fun time learning about the hockey skills and are desperate for Mrs Burden to build a rink for them. Over to you Mrs Burden!
Rounders 09
Year 6 attended a rounders tournament at Mortimer and produced some great results and performances along the way. Be warned though, don't field too close when some of our year 6 are batting, and remember your crash helmet!
Cricket 09
Cricket is featuring strongly in the P.E. curriculum at present. Marine Park is a designated 'Chance To Shine' school which has enabled us to receive free curriculum time coaching for years 3, 4, 5 and 6 from Phil Mellons.
Phil has been teaching our boys and girls the basic skills of fielding, batting and bowling, as well as having a lot of fun and enjoyment along the way.

Swimming
Year 3 and 4 each receive a weekly swimming lesson at Stanhope Primary from September until May and this has proved enormously successful in helping to raise levels of water confidence amongst our young children and indeed the ability to swim 10 metres, 25 and further. The Year 6 take the final six weeks of the school year to have their level of attainment assessed before they depart to secondary school.
