May 2009 - Anglo Saxons
Year 3 recently had a trip to Bedesworld as part of their “Anglo-Saxon” topic in history. They took part in the Anglo Saxon Farm experience where two of the children dressed up as a farmer and his wife; met the animals such as Clyde and April the horses; went inside an Anglo Saxon “fridge”, and discovered what it was like in a poor man, and rich man’s house.

They found the visit very informative and it helped them to have a better understanding of the topic .
November 2008 - Romans
Year 3 visited Arbeia Fort to learn about life as a Roman soldier. They visited a soldier's barracks where eight soldiers lived with a horse! They dressed up as soldiers and visited a commanding officer's house.
November 2008 - Victorians
Year 5 went back in time to the Victorian era when they visited Beamish museum. They took part in a Victorian classroom role play and learnt about life in school over 100 years ago!
February 2008 - Toys
Each year group participated in a workshop which investigated old and new toys. The children were allowed to play with a selection of toys, and then questioned about their properties, age etc. The classes were also given time to play with some toys downstairs and to draw some pictures.
This was a half day visit and the children enjoyed the Metro journey as well as the actual museum!

Year 4 – Tudors
We studied the Tudors for our History topic last term. We learnt about rich and poor Tudors, what life was like in the 1400’s and Henry VIII and his 6 wives. We performed a play to tell the rest of the school what we had learnt. It was a bit tricky to remember Henry’s wives and children as he had so many so we learnt a song to help us! Can you guess our Characters?
