Year 4 visited The Great North Museum to see the Ancient Greek collection. There was lots to see and do including an Ancient Greek treasure hunt, making a Greek vase and creating a timeline using artefacts from the museum. We had a great time!
Year 4 had fun at Harton Technology College as we continued our adventures in science following British Science Week.
To start their Solids, Liquids and Gases topic off with a bang, Year 4 were shown how to use the Bunsen burners to rapidly boil and evaporate liquids before creating slime from PVA glue and borax.
As you can see, the children were amazed to be working in a real science lab and they really showed off their scientific thinking skills. Well done, Year 4!
PS – Year 5 will be heading up there soon to see some forces in action…
Year 4 were invited to take part in a colourful parade to celebrate the opening of The Word. Year 4 worked with our friends from Dry Water, Paula and Francis, to design banners using the children’s favourite words. The banners will be displayed in The Word for the next two weeks. Please go and share the wonderful work Year 4 have done.
This Wednesday, Year 4 became the first children EVER to set foot inside South Shields’ brand new 21st Century library, The Word. We couldn’t wait to get back to school and tell everyone about the VIP event.
We looked at the hundreds of brand new books, played with the mechanical Lego, learned about local shipwrecks on the giant ipads and were read stories in the magical 3D StoryWorld. We even saw Harry Potter and Professor Dumbledore!
The library opens to the public this Saturday (22nd October) and we can’t wait to get back there.
